Logitech Laptop desk promises comfort on the couch

Despite the name, many of us find laptops to be an uncomfortable proposition when the situation demands that we actually have to use them on our laps. Logitechs take on tackling this problem is the new Comfort Lapdesk, a portable laptop desk designed to keep roaming computer users comfy, whether at home, in the office or on the road.

The laptop desk features four-layers designed to shield the user from laptop http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laptop heat. The bottom-layer’s fabric and an air-flow chamber between the lapdesk’s base and top combine to further minimize heat and an arched base makes contact with the legs in just four places, rather than the entire leg, thereby improving air flow.

The cushioned base provides a stable platform for laptop use and allows you to relax your legs instead of locking the knees together to support the computer. A non-slip glossy finish on the top of the laptop desk helps prevent the computer from sliding around, while a 12-degree angled riser positions the notebook to a height that supports neck and leg comfort (when used in a seated position) and improves posture.

The laptop desk was developed in response to research conducted by Logitech that revealed nearly 60% of laptop users in the home use them on the couch http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Couch so they can be with their families while working on the computer. Further research indicated 36% use a laptop on the bed and 16% use it while sitting or lying on the floor and almost half of those people reported concerns about laptop heat and posture. Some admitted to using a pillow or book to provide a barrier from the laptop heat, but those solutions often end up trapping heat and making it even hotter.
